Breeding is my favorite part of raising and showing cats. It's also the hardest, you have to have a hard shell so to speak. It seems the Queens always want to have their bundles of joy in the middle of the night and on the weekend, to boot. It's like Murphy law, if anything can go wrong it just might!
I know a lot of Breeders will disagree with what I'm going to say. It is my personal belief that a Queen should be bred only twice a year. I know there are exceptions, but most Veterinarians will agree that the Queen needs time to replenish her body with Vitamins and Minerals that they lose during nursing.
They also need to regain their weight and get their coat back into good condition.
I Have had friends who bred their Queens four times in a year. However, their cats do not regain their normal body weight.
Vitamins:
We give our Queens that are expecting extra Vitamins and Minerals. We use Kenic Organic Flax Oil with Lignans.Along with other vitamins they get daily.
Food:
We give our Cats and Kittens Chicken soup for the cat Lovers soul and Premium Edge Kitten Formula. 50/50. We feed a meat mixture of Blue ridge beef twice a day..
